Creating a Project

The Elina theme features a Project custom post type. This can be found in the main WP admin menu Projects. All portfolio items will need to have their project content created first using this custom post type. Once it has been created here it will be available to be inserted into portfolio pages, as well as widgets.

To create a Project custom post do the following:

  1. Select the Projects item in the main admin menu & select "Add New"

  2. Give the Project a title

  3. Enter a description of the project into the WP editor. This description will be visible below the project media on both the single project page and the scrolling ajax portfolio view.

  4. Select a format for the project.  The project format determines how the project appears on the single project page. The options are: Standard, Video and Gallery. See below for an explanation of each of these types and their associated options.

  5. Set the projects Featured Image This will be the image which appears on the portfolio pages unless a project format of "Gallery" is specified. In this case either the featured image of the gallery is displayed, or if none exists, then the first image of the gallery is shown.

Portfolio Dialog Box The edit project page contains a box in the sidebar entitled "Portfolio". In this box you can find a few additional options which dictate how this project will be displayed when in a portfolio grid situation. The options available here are as follows:

ThumbnailThis option allows you to specify a thumbnail to be shown in the portfolio grid in stead of the theme creating it automatically from the project's media. This is for those users who want to control the cropping of their images in the portfolio grid.
LayoutHere you can specify a custom size/proportion for this project's thumbnail when displayed in the portfolio grid. This option will only work if the chosen portfolio grid supports variable sized project cells. The format is "Width"x"Height", where width is columns and height is the number of rows the cell should span. This can also be overwritten later when creating the grid view itself.
TitleEnter here a custom title which will be shown in the portfolio grid thumbnail (on hover).
DescriptionEnter here a custom subtitle which will be shown in the portfolio grid thumbnail (on hover).
LightboxIf set to yes, this project's image content will be displayed in a lightbox view when clicked by the user from the portfolio grid page.
LB TitleEnter a title which will be displayed in the lightbox.
LB DescriptionEnter a description which will be displayed in the lightbox. (This is ignored for Gallery/Video project formats.)
